043 – WordPress eCommerce Solutions

Today’s discussion is about two different eCommerce plugins for WordPress. The two that I talk about in this episode are:
– WP e-Commerce
WooCommerce

The main reason for integrating shopping carts into your WordPress site is to make is as easy as possible for your customers to purchase from you.

Some benefits of these plugins:
– You can add shipping rates
– You can manage inventory
– You can have coupon codes or special offers
– You have detailed stats to see your past orders

NOTE: The WooCommerce plugin was just released and I have not tried it myself. All the information that I share in this show is what I found out by researching this new plugin.

I use Cart66 (Cart66.com) since my products are digital I like that they have Amazon S3 integration.

They are a 89 for the plugin and comes with a year of support and updates (the keep adding stuff!) They have lots of quick tags and hooks for the more techie guys.

I used to have the Gold Option on the other e-commerce plugin but had too many issues during auto upgrades over multiple clients and had no official support.

Wow, I didn’t know that was an option. I’m definitely going to check into it.

I am thrilled to hear there’s a new WordPress eCommerce solution out there. I look forward to a future show of yours, after you’ve had a chance to check out WooThemes’ new shopping cart plugin, where you do a little comparing/contrasting between WP e-commerce and WooCommerce. Keep up the great work my friend.

I have yet to get to comparing the two. I honestly don’t think it can get much worse than WP e-commerce though, lol.

Have you heard of or tried http://www.ecwid.com? I am thinking of testing it for some of my small business clients because it looks super easy for them to manage. However I haven’t heard too much mention of it out there yet.
