095 – Software for Everyday WordPress Users

Today’s episode is a little different than most. Today I had multiple guests on the show to share with us what software they use everyday to create WordPress websites.

I asked everyone the same questions and you can find their answers and links to the things that they use below. Enjoy learning the software for everyday WordPress users.

@Adam Silver Yea, that would definitely be too easy 🙂 That’s why I don’t do it either, lol!

Like @CascadeVDesign, I use Dreamweaver but mostly because it has the only acceptable FTP engine of any Web development tool. I love, and even bought, Coda 2 (for Mac), but I can’t use it because its FTP engine is too primitive. If someone else makes changes to files that I need to sync up, Coda 2 can’t figure out which files someone else changed. DW handles it easily. Shame, because I love everything else about Coda 2 better.

@forresttanaka Wow Forrest! I don’t think I’ve met anyone who owns Coda 2 that still prefers Dreamweaver! You have to use whichever tool works best for you to be most efficient!

I really liked the interview format of this episode. It’s great to learn what tools and processes others use in their web design/dev businesses.

@dhartzler10 @JoshuaWRivers @warnerchad Both. Most of mine are “primitive” compared to some mentioned on the show, but it may help others that are just starting.

Wow Dustin, you have been one busy guy getting this episode up this week – packed full of helpful information. Thanks for chatting with me.  Great idea for a podcast. It’s amazing how many tools there are available to us as web developers/project managers.  It was fun to hear what everyone else is using.  Can’t wait to hear about what you use in a future episode.

Dustin, that was my favorite episode to date.  I’m excited to start trying all the new tools I learned about, especially inkscape, google tasks, hexadecimal color finder and the Pomodoro method.  Keep up the great work!  BTW, what are the “pts” next to the commenters’ names?

@QuietCuisine I’m so glad you enjoyed the show, I had a lot of fun recording it! The numbers next to your name represent how many likes you’ve received on comments. You automatically get 5 for signing up with LiveFyre. That’s why I like almost everyone’s comment 🙂

I love how the two people on PC felt the need to qualify why they are on PC. LOL  I love my PC and my droid!!

@Brian Wallace I guess it’s peer pressure; Macs are predominant at the web design meetups I attend, and are heavily featured on the web shows and podcasts I subscribe to. It’s almost accepted that web professionals use Macs. I actually like Windows 7; it does everything I need in a PC OS. Like you, I have an Android phone, and it works well too.
