041 – 7 Online Tools I Use to Run My Business

Today’s show is a little bit different. Today I want to share with you some of my favorite online services that I use every single day to run my business. Note: some of the links are affiliate links and I will receive a small commission. You won’t pay any extra for the service, in fact, you will get the best deal by using the links below. Enjoy!

Freshbooks
– Track hours I work on projects, create invoices, online payments

MeetingBurner
– Like gotomeeting.com but completely free. This service rocks!

Dropbox
– Stores your files on the cloud. Use the link above to get an extra 250mb

Evernote
– Free notebook like software that stores all my notes online. Now I always have the information I need

Google Apps / Google Voice
– Custom email accounts with Google’s spam prevention
– Have a business number that I can answer with my computer so I don’t waste cell minutes

Libsyn
– Host all my mp3 files here. This way I don’t crash my web server

GreenGeeks
– Use link above and coupon: YWE30 to save $30. Best shared hosting in my opinion

WordPress
– I use WordPress everyday to build website. Best free content management system, period.

      Hey Dustin,
Can I get one of the meetingburner licenses you talked about? I work for eventespresso.com doing support for installations of our wordpress plugin and I think this may be very useful for us. Thanks, love the show.

        Hi Sidney,

Can you send me an email so I have your email address? I need an email address to send the invite to.

Thanks for turning me onto Meetingburner – I can wait to give it a go.

I have a free tool that I use everyday that your listeners may dig. Teamlab. I use it as my project manager, but it’s a lot more than that. It’s Free and it’s code is available as Open Source download if you want to run it in house. I don’t though.

      Hey Dustin,

Thanks a ton for listing so many great web tools all in one place. Very handy! I’m almost giddy about trying out MeetingBurner being that you stated it’s faster than GoToMeeting which we currently use and like a lot aside from its somewhat pokiness. It should be fun to compare and contrast the two services!

P.S., We currently use AND love Dropbox so I can totally vouch for that tool as well as Google Pro Apps.

P.P.S., And once again GREAT show Mr. Hartzler!

      Sincerely,

      Randy

Dustin, why do you like GreenGeeks over HostGator? I find the support with HostGator to be immediate and awesome. Haven’t had a problem yet. Just curious.

Loving your shows by the way. I love your easygoing very clear style.

GreenGeeks and HostGator are very similar in nature. The main reason I like GreenGeeks is because their company is ‘green’ in nature. They purchase energy credits when they add servers and they have a zero carbon footprint, which I think is pretty cool.
